Signs of a spinal compression fracture
Disclaimer: If you are experiencing back pain, let your doctor know! Women near or over 50-years-old are at-risk of osteoporosis.
Let’s look at some of the symptoms of a compression fracture:
Back pain. The pain may come on suddenly and sharply or it may gradually get worse, but a lot of times it happens doing an everyday activity, such as carrying groceries.
Another sign is pain when you stand up or walk but relief once you lie down.
Trouble bending or twisting your body
Loss of height
Curved spine
It is possible to have multiple compression fractures. When this occurs, you will really notice a loss of height and changes to the spine. You might also notice difficulty breathing, hip pain, and stomach problems. All of this is due to the cracks in the vertebra pushing down on all those other body parts, like the lungs and stomach.
