Endovascular Aneurysm Repair

What is endovascular aneurysm repair?

Endovascular aneurysm repair is a minimally invasive procedure used to prevent an aneurysm in the aorta from rupturing, which can cause internal bleeding.

What happens during an endovascular repair procedure?

Anesthesia

You’ll receive anesthesia to ensure you’re comfortable and feel no pain during the procedure.

Guiding the catheter

A catheter is inserted through a small incision in the groin and guided through the femoral arteries using imaging technology.

Inserting the stent

Then, a tube made of metal mesh called a stent is sent along the catheter to the aneurysm.

Inserting the stent graft

A stent graft is then placed at the aneurysm site to provide a reinforced channel for blood flow, ensuring blood isn’t going into the aneurysm, which reduces the risk of rupture.
