Vampire Facial

What is a vampire facial?

A vampire facial innovatively merges microneedling with the application of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to revitalize the skin. Microneedling employs delicate, short needles to create minuscule punctures in the skin, varying from 0.5 to 2.5 millimeters in depth. These tiny punctures, which are akin to slight pinpricks and only breach the skin's surface, activate the body’s innate healing mechanisms. This activation promotes the production of collagen and elastin, essential proteins for skin elasticity and firmness, thereby enhancing the skin's capacity to absorb PRP.

Following the microneedling procedure, PRP is applied topically to the skin. PRP, derived from a concentration of your own blood's platelet-rich plasma proteins, is packed with growth factors that promote tissue healing and repair, effectively addressing various skin concerns.

What is the process?

Microneedling with PRP takes place in a clinical setting, beginning with a simple and relatively pain-free blood draw. This blood is then processed in a centrifuge to extract the plasma and platelets, separating them from the red blood cells.

Prior to starting the microneedling process, a topical anesthetic cream is applied to the face to minimize any discomfort caused by the needling procedure.

After ensuring the anesthetic cream has taken effect and the microneedling is complete, the PRP is gently applied to the skin. It's recommended to leave the PRP on the skin for the remainder of the day to enhance the treatment's effectiveness. Following the procedure, patients might experience slight redness and sensitivity of the skin, akin to a mild sunburn, which typically subsides within a few days.

What are the benefits?

The vampire facial offers numerous advantages, such as enhancing skin cell renewal, refining skin tone and texture. Utilizing microneedling with PRP, it effectively diminishes fine lines and signs of aging. This procedure proves particularly beneficial for individuals with a history of acne, visible acne scars, or skin damage due to extended sun exposure.

Am I a candidate?

Nearly everyone is suitable for microneedling with PRP. This treatment rejuvenates the skin, targeting wrinkles, fine lines, extensive sun damage, or uneven skin tones, offering a more youthful appearance. However, individuals with a history of blood diseases, such as clotting or bleeding disorders, may not be eligible for this procedure.
